The mission of St. James Lutheran Church’s Lutheran Men in Mission is to support men in their spiritual growth and in their social and intellectual development as they strive to deepen their commitment to Christ and to their families; and to provide strength and support as they grow in the life of the Church and its evangelical mission. As we engage in this mission, we will INVITE all men, EQUIP all men and SEND all men.

Our Intent for 2022

BUILD COMMUNITY. STRENGTHEN and EXPAND.
LEAD and PARTICIPATE.

Ensure all Men of our Congregational community are aware of and invited to St. James Lutheran Men In Mission’s ministry.
Strengthen and Expand the ministry.
Continue a leadership and participative role in the NCLMM Board and our NCLMM Conference; Sandhills Conference.

Our Strategy for 2022

COMMUNICATION

Inform all men through increased means of communication of all Men’s Ministry events and activities. (Personal Invites / face to face, Message Board, Monthly Email, Messenger Articles, Church Website, Bulletin Inserts, Facebook, Event Highlights on easels,   etc.)

 

RECURRING EVENTS

Bible Study is held during Sunday School at 9:00 (in-person and via ZOOM). We consider and discuss the lectionary texts for the day.

Theology on Tap is a time of fellowship, food, and conversation. On the first Wednesday evening of each month, 5:30-8:00, in the back yard of the church (weather permitting.)

Business Meeting of the LMM is during Sunday School on the 2nd Sunday of each month.

Honeycutt Park Cleanup occurs the 3rd Saturday morning of even-numbered months (Feb., Apr., Jun., Aug., Oct., Dec.). Honeycutt Park is a nearby park & recreation center of the City of Fayetteville. We help with cleanup of litter, trash, and other minor debris in the park.

St James Work Day is a project of the Property Ministry Team, and LMM members is a vital leader of this project. The 3rd Saturday morning of each month finds members involved in maintenance, cleanup, and organizational tasks around the campus.

SINGLE / SPECIAL EVENTS

NC Lutheran Men in Mission holds an annual meeting each spring for all congregational groups each spring. (St. James has hosted this event twice in recent years.) This year’s event was hosted by Grace-Hendersonville in a blended format (in-person and via ZOOM.)

One Year To Live Retreats are spiritual faith-building experiences for all men. The weekend, spent in an outdoor ministry site, helps meet the need to develop close faith-friendships with other men, as well as grow a deeper relationship with God. There are usually 2-3 retreats each year, and draw men from both NC and SC.

Agape Work Days. St. James LMM is active in their support of the ELCA Camp Agape in Fuquay-Varina. The regularly participate in the work days at camp. and recent efforts have included upkeep of the zip line and repairing a trail bridge.

The Fall Retreat at Camp Agape is an annual weekend for our LMM. Time spent together in Bible study, fellowship, service and worship helps build the relationships and focus of our LMM.
